1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website or use an application. They are widely used to make websites and apps work more efficiently and to provide information to the owners of the site or app.

In addition to cookies, we and our partners may use similar technologies including:

  • Web beacons — small transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that allow us to track whether content has been accessed.
  • Local storage — technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage that allow data to be stored locally on your device.
  • Device identifiers — unique identifiers associated with your device that can be used to recognize your device across sessions.

Throughout this policy, we refer to all of these technologies collectively as “cookies.” For more information about how we collect and use your personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Authentication — to recognize you when you sign in to The Transfer Portal and keep you logged in throughout your session.
  • Security — to protect your account and our services from fraudulent or unauthorized activity.
  • Preferences — to remember your settings and preferences so you don’t have to set them every time you use the app.
  • Analytics — to understand how users interact with our services, identify issues, and improve the overall experience.
  • Advertising — to deliver relevant advertisements and measure the effectiveness of ad campaigns.
  • Performance — to monitor and improve the speed, reliability, and performance of our services.

5. Mobile App Technologies

As a mobile application, The Transfer Portal uses technologies that are functionally similar to cookies but operate within the mobile environment.

5.1 Local Storage & Shared Preferences

We store data locally on your device to improve performance and provide a seamless experience. This includes:

  • Authentication tokens for maintaining your signed-in state
  • User preferences and app settings
  • Cached thumbnails and images for faster loading
  • Temporary media data during upload and processing

5.2 Device Identifiers

We may use the following device identifiers to provide and improve our services:

  • Firebase Installation ID — a unique identifier assigned to each app installation, used for analytics, messaging, and service delivery.
  • Advertising ID (IDFA / GAID) — a resettable identifier provided by Apple (IDFA) or Google (GAID) used for interest-based advertising and attribution. You can reset or disable this identifier in your device settings.

5.3 SDKs & Embedded Technologies

Our app includes software development kits (SDKs) from third-party partners that may collect data through their own technologies. These SDKs provide functionality such as analytics, crash reporting, advertising, voice and video calling, and push notifications. Each third-party SDK operates under its own privacy policy, as outlined in Section 4 above.

6. Your Choices

You have several options for controlling or limiting how cookies and similar technologies are used.

6.1 Browser Cookies

Most web browsers allow you to manage cookie preferences through their settings. You can typically set your browser to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or alert you when a cookie is being set. Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of our website.

6.2 Mobile Advertising Controls

You can limit ad tracking and reset your advertising identifier on your mobile device:

  • iOS — Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking to manage which apps are allowed to track your activity. You can also go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising to turn off Personalized Ads.
  • Android — Go to Settings > Privacy > Ads (or Settings > Google > Ads) to opt out of ads personalization or reset your advertising ID.

6.3 Analytics Opt-Out

You can opt out of Firebase Analytics data collection by adjusting your device settings or by using the opt-out mechanisms provided by Google. Visit Google Analytics Opt-Out for more information.

6.4 Push Notification Tokens

You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. On iOS, go to Settings > Notifications > The Transfer Portal. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > The Transfer Portal > Notifications. Disabling push notifications will remove the associated push token from our systems.

6.5 Remove Ads via Subscription

Subscribers to The Transfer Portal premium plans can enjoy an ad-free experience. Upgrading to a premium subscription will remove all third-party advertising and the associated advertising cookies and tracking technologies.

6.6 Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting that sends a signal to websites you visit indicating that you do not wish to be tracked. There is currently no industry-wide standard for how companies should respond to DNT signals. At this time, we do not respond to DNT signals, but we continue to monitor developments in this area.

7. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies and technologies we use, or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification or other communication.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies and similar technologies.
